Is output buffering enabled by default in Python's interpreter for sys.stdout ?
If the answer is positive, what are all the ways to disable it ?
Suggestions so far:
Use the -u command line switch
Wrap sys.stdout in an object that flushes after every write
Set PYTHONUNBUFFERED env var
sys.stdout = os.fdopen(sys.stdout.fileno(), 'w', ...
When I need buffered IO on blocking file descriptor I use stdio. But if I turn file descriptor into non-blocking mode according to manual stdio buffering is unusable. After some research I see that BIO can be usable for buffering non-blocking IO.
But may be there are other alternatives?

I am sorry if this is a duplicate but I was not able to find a definitive answer to what is the best practice for each type.
I would like to know what the appropriate conditions are that define when to use BufferedReader vs FileReader or BufferedInput/OutputStream vs FileInput/OutputStream? Is there a formula of sorts that will always ...
Hey there. I'm trying to write a small program that will read the four following bytes after the last occurrence of "0xFF 0xC0 0x00 0x11" which can be converted easily to binary or decimal. The purpose is that the 2-5 bytes following the last occurrence of that hex pattern represent the width and height of a JPEG file.

Is there a better way to solve this? Would using scanner work?

At program start-up, three text streams are predefined and need not be opened explicitly - standard input (for reading conventional input), standard output (for writing conventional output), and standard error (for writing diagnostic output).
As initially opened, the standard error stream is ...
I am working on a project where a partner provides a service as socket server. And I write client sockets to communicate with it. The communication is two way: I send a request to server and then receive a response from server.
The problem is that I send the data to the server but apparently the server cannot receive the data.
From my ...
