You can't just have user stories somehow the functionality of the program has to be documented. Do you end up with a specifications document with scrum? If you do do you end up assigning time to do this onto the task?
An example would be a complex workflow.
Another example would be a new member who comes onto the team.

I am very new to using Agile (scrum). we have planned sprints using story points, but have not assigned work (tasks) to all the user stories in the project, just in the sprint coming up. My boss wants to know how much work is left to do...and I don't know because I haven't planned those sprints. Can anyone give me advice or a resource...
From wikipedia:
During each “sprint”, typically a two
to four week period (with the length
being decided by the team), the team
creates a potentially shippable
product increment (for example,
working and tested software). The set
of features that go into a sprint come
from the product “backlog,” which is a

hi all,
in the last while I installed MS-TFS 2008 then started to get myself prepared to use Agile Process Guidance template shipped with the TFS. with little googling I passed through Mike Cohn materials:
I watched his conference in youtube "sponsored by google:

Hi all,
I've seen many articles about how to put together Agile RFP's and
negotiating agile contracts, but how about if you're responding to a
more traditional RFP? Any advice on how to meet the requirements of the
RFP while still presenting an agile approach?
A lot of these traditional RFP's request specific technical
implementations...
Hey guys,
We're getting a QA for the first time in our project. We're not sure how to best use him.
We work in an Agile environment. Pair programming, user stories, short sprints (two weeks), daily stand-ups, retrospectives, planning meetings, quick releases etc.
One obviously way to use a tester is to verify bugs fixes and user sto...
I am looking into BDD testing within a scrum scenario and realise that the BDD scenarios are more akin to specifications than tests.
Therefore should they be written before the developers go into pre-planning so that all of the functionality has been identified which would allow better estimating, prioritisation etc in that meeting?

We are a small team of two web developers and want to know which programming technique (XP, Agile, Scrum, Kanban) and tools (CVS, Git, Issue tracking) are the right for us.
We are developing a product for ourselves, so we are our own customers.

As a scrum master introducing scrum to an organization, how do avoid also being product owner?
problem facts:
I am working on a project as scrum master.
Since the organization is new to scrum, I have assumed the role of setting meetings with stakeholders to form their system vision into user stories.
At present, the stakeholders are n...
Hi,

We just started to use scrum for our project management. We are a very small team (2 developers, 1 UI/Web-deisgner ) and we have a lot of running projects at once.
How do you handle having multiple projects running at once in the scrum model? Most of the time we have a main projects and some small ones. How do you combine multiple spri...
Hi,
I'd like to try scrum with my team. Studied a lot of posts about scrum tools here, but i think it's all superfluous and excel file is ok for product and sprint backlog. But it's problem to fing a good template. Maybe somebody could share excel template he is using for scrum backlog? Thanks.

As I understand things, the Scrum backlog is composed of a series of Stories that represent something for the end user and this is further decomposed into Features.
If this is the case, where does all the behind the scenes features go that aren't really linked to a story but are still useful?
For example, say I'm making an application ...
Hi,
We have been using SCRUM as an SDLC and we use OnTime tool for that.
I wonder if it is possible to define a rule like
"IF Total number of hours estimated is greated than 150 hours, notify the user."
Do you know if it is possible and if yes, how to accomplish this?
thanks,

I am working alone at the beginning of a sizable open source project and would like to leverage some of the core ideas/methods from Scrum to help manage my time and remain focused on development and deploying early, demonstrable functionality. I would like to hear from others who have used Scrum alone and what you have found particularl...
My work uses a Scrum-like process to manage projects. I say Scrum-like, because we call it Scrum, but our project managers exclude aspects of Scrum that are inconvenient (most notably customer interaction).
One of the stories in our current sprint was to correct a defect. After spending almost an entire day working on the issue, I deter...
Hi,
I'm going to do Scrum in VSTS (TFS 2010). I know about the famous process template SfTS from scrumforteamsystem.com. But It seems to be too heavy. It includes Sprints, Team Sprints, Work Stream,... I'm wondering if there is any other Scrum template process for TFS 2010?
Any help would be appreciated.

In the 5/15 minute scrum meeting the 3 questions are asked.
For the last question
"what impediments are getting in your way"
If a dev has problems - the xyz is going to have problems, this is likely going to draw the meeting out past 15 mins and could go into a hour long discussion.
Is it the scrum masters job to help this user, is th...
