I know that VPC does not officially support Linux, but I was wondering if there are any ways to get things similar to the VM additions so that I can get:
1) A higher screen resoultion than 800x600
2) Faster graphics, no jerkey movements
3) Drag and Drop support
Number 3 really isn't that important but it would be nice.

I've Googled, I've Caspol to death, but I still cannot load a VS2008 solution from a drive on the host machine. I get the project location not trusted message.
When I try:
Caspol -q -machine -addgroup 1 -url file://d:/* FullTrust -name "D Drive"
VS2008 starts to open the solution, then crashes with no error message - just disappears....
I have a mirror of a RedHat6 LAMP server setup locally on my development machine (XP pro) for testing.
I am trying to configure it so I can connect to it. However I am having problems.
I've given the image a static IP address of 192.168.1.5. The httpd service is running, and when in RH6 I can view the apache test page by visiting http:...
I'm running a VirtualPC 2007 VM with Windows2003 as the OS. Inside of this I am using a web based VPN to connect to my client's network. I cannot use this VPN from my host machine because it does not work with Vista (still!). Inside the VM I'm connecting to a Terminal Server at the client site which I'm logging into using their domain...
Is there an official way for an application to determine if it is running in VMWare or Virtual PC (or whatever Microsoft is calling it now)? The code I have seen is usually a hack that took advantage of some odd behavioral side effect in a specific version of VMWare or Virtual PC.
Ideally Delphi code, but if you can link to an offici...
I have VS 2008 and SQL Server 2005 Developer edition installed on my desktop. I have a instance of XP running in Virtual PC and want to connect to the dev instance. Is it possible to add the Virtual PC to the network of the guest PC and to the domain of the Guest PC?

Thanks

The IE6/7/8 XP SP3 images made available for testing from Microsoft are set to expire tomorrow(!) April 30. I'm a little concerned that Microsoft has not posted new images up yet since I use these fairly often as an easy way...
Hello. Does anyone know how to install a Vista UPGRADE edition to a virtual machine? Id like to use it for testing with older versions of .NET, but it wont let me install the upgrade version. I'd rather not have to install XP and then Upgrade it. Its a licensed legal copy with CD-Key and all. It just wont install to an empty VM because i...
I currently work on a small software team that primarily maintains legacy software. I am trying to set up a VirtualPC that we can use to do this maintenance. Specifically, I would like to be able to debug and run VB6 web apps from a folder on the host pc. My constraints are as follows:

Is there a way to interact with Virtual PC1?
Looking to do basic things like startup and shutdown (with choice of save or turn off etc..) specific VM's.
Any solution other than simulating key presses would be fine, for example
WMI
COM+
ADSI
PowerShell

My coding platform is a Vista machine with 4GB RAM. And while the machine is slick, I know there are 800MB of RAM that is not used at all. (only about 3.2GB or 4GB is used).

This is basically a duplicate of this question, but the accepted answer was "no" and I would like to keep this question open until getting an actual answer instead of accepting "NO" and giving up.

Hi,
I would like to script a build of a virtual machine from a base image, with a number of files and folders being copied across to the target machine, and some software also installed on it. Is this possible? Which technology is best suited to this - VMWare, Virtual PC/Server or Virtual Box? The solution has to run on WS2003 or WS2...
After having had a dev PC HD corrupt, I'm considering the idea of making my development environment be fully Virtual PC based.
The core items would be:
- XP Pro 32
- IIS
- VS2003
- VS2008
- SQL Server 2005
- Office 2003
Primary source would reside on a server in SVN with only a clocal copy on the VPC.
This would be for Windows based we...
Hi,
Just to ask if there are any non-proprietary virtual image clients available, i.e. an application capable of running .vhd and/or .vmdk based virtual images? I have searched online, but have not been able to find any.
Note, I am actually looking to avoid using the bloated VMware Server 2.0, with its web interface and resource hun...
The last time I wanted to test IE6 with the developer toolbar enabled, I simply installed Microsoft Virtual PC, downloaded the XP with IE6 VMC and away I went.
However, I'm trying to do this today and having a nightmare of a time. It seems that Microsoft, although providing Microsoft Virtual PC, are no longer providing VMCs on their "I...
