I create a bitmap from bytes coming via the web and when I downsample it, the resulting Jpeg is still too big even though I use small pixel format.
Does someone know how to manipulate the compression of the image? I had the impression that the saved image is no longer compressed.

Hi All
I've just created a little app that programmatically compiles code using the C# Compiler, and it works brilliantly. But, one thing that I need it to do is compile Windows.Forms code. Like, I can create a console app with it, but I can't create a GUI-based form. Here's the link that got me started:

Is each application pool equivalent to a .Net AppDomain?
Or it is a equivalent to a .Net process?
How is Application pool related to IIS w3wp.exe?

It seems most of the work is in business applications like inventory, sales, banks, medical, human resources, government, insurance, document processing, file archiving etc. Would you agree?
From my point of view business applications seem to occupy over 90% of the job offerings(because no one wants to work on those?).
Furthermore, eac...
Hello,
I have been curious about dynamically create class at runtime in C# and stumbled across this article. http://olondono.blogspot.com/2008/02/creating-code-at-runtime.html I am curious to hear some pros and cons regarding construction of a class at runtime.
Any opinions?

Hi all,
i have to build some financial data report, and for making the calculation, there are a lot of 'if then' situations: if it's a large client, subtract 10%, if it's postal code equals '10101', add 10%, if the day is on a saturday, make a difficult calculation etc.
so i once read about this kind of example, and what they did was (...
I'm a bit boggled by something, I hope the CLR gearheads can help. Apparently my gears aren't big enough.
I have a reflector utility that generates assembly stubs for Cola for .NET, and I find classes have methods that only differ by a modifier, such as virtual. Example below, from Oracle.DataAccess.dll, method GetType():

I will openly admit that I fall on the side of Test Driven Development. I have run into a situation that I would like to test, but I haven't found a good way to do so.
I have been working in ASP.NET MVC and I would like to test that the parts of code that I am putting into the view layer (and I know that I need to keep that as minimal a...

I'm a T4 newbie trying to use T4 Toolbox to generate F# code based on this answer, but it seems that class feature blocks can't be mixed with statement blocks. Here's my code:

Imagine we have an enum:
enum Foo { A=1,B=2,C=3 }
If the type is known at compile-time, a direct cast can be used to change between the enum-type and the underlying type (usually int):
static int GetValue() { return 2; }
...
Foo foo = (Foo)GetValue(); // becomes Foo.B
And boxing this gives a box of type Foo:
object o1 = foo;

We've got a CMS system written in .NET C#. This system has editing facilities for templates (essentially HTML files) and various other support files such as CSS and javascript files.

I need to import 3d objects, done in either AutoCAD or Solidworks, and draw them into a windows form. I only need the object to be viewed in 3D and moved around - no manipulation required.

Is it possible to handle a mouseDown event in VB.Net (2008) regardless of the control firing the mouseDown event? Basically, I just want to catch a mouseDown event at the "form level" and don't want to program mouseDown event handlers in every control. Is there a way to do this?
