If I have an object that lazy loads an association with very large objects, is there a way I can do processing at the time the lazy load occurs? I thought I could use AssociateWith or LoadWith from DataLoadOptions, but there are very, very specific restrictions on what you can do in those. Basically I need to be notified when an EntitySe...
I'm trying to create some 'friend assemblies' using the [InternalsVisibleTo()] attribute, but I can't seem to get it working. I've followed Microsoft's instructions for creating signed friend assemblies and I can't see where I'm going wrong. So I'll detail my steps here and hopefully someone can spot my deliberate mistake...?

This is for a little pet project of mine.
I want to write a program that does some email analytics and tells you the number of emails coming in and out each day, as well as your percentages. Really, all I need to do to kick this off is write a .Net app that can talk with Outlook and count the number of messages received and sent for gi...
I have to develop a class which can run it's own hard-coded task in a background thread and communicate with container class sending him progress updates and taking messages from it. I believe I am going to extend BackgroundWorker class but it looks a bit weird to extend and I haven't managed to find a good example wit Google. Can you sh...
In the good old days of C. I could cast a float to an int (assuming 32 bit system), do some bit manipluation ( bitwise and, right shift, ect ), and get the upper and lower 16 bit hex representations of the floating point number, which I could then store in two short values. I'm not seeing an easy way of doing this in C#.

Take this class for example:
public class Applicant : UniClass<Applicant>

[Key]
public int Id { get; set; }

public string SSN { get; set; }
[Field("APP.SORT.LAST.NAME")]
public string FirstName { get; set; }
[Field("APP.SORT.FIRST.NAME")]
public string LastName { get; set; }

I have a Windows Forms application with a BackgroundWorker. In a method on the main form, a MessageBox is shown and the user must click the OK button to continue. Meanwhile, while the messagebox is being displayed, the BackgroundWorker finishes executing and calls the RunWorkerCompleted event. In the method I have assigned to that eve...
Hi,
I am new to WMI and System.Diagnostics etc.
I need to write something (a service?) that monitors several processes for CPU Usage %.
When I am in Task Manager, the CPU column is the one that I want (i.e. the percentage).
I need to be able to run this on a remote machine, and have it check the CPU Usage
every second or so. When the us...
I want to associate custom data to a Type, and retrieve that data in run-time, blazingly fast.
This is just my imagination, of my perfect world:
var myInfo = typeof(MyClass).GetMyInformation();
this would be very fast... of course this does not exist! If it did I would not be asking. hehe ;)
This is the way using custom attribute...
Is there a way to do this in C#? I know that the subclass will call the superclass constructor before calling its own constructor, but what If I have some code on the superclass that should only be executed after all the subclasses constructors have been called?

Hey guys,
I'm trying to programmatically load a web page via the WebBrowser control with the intent of testing the page & it's JavaScript functions. Basically, I want to compare the HTML & JavaScript run through this control against a known output to ascertain whether there is a problem.
However, I'm having trouble simply creating and ...
I'm maintaining a Windows CE app built with the .NET Framework that has about 45 forms. There are 5 'sections' which lead to the function you want. The application is 100% full screen and it is important that it can't be minimized.
Since there are so many forms, it's difficult to keep track of which form should be displayed after one is...
I have a C++ function that produces a list of rectangles that are interesting. I want to be able to get that list out of the C++ library and back into the C# application that is calling it.
So far, I'm encoding the rectangles like so:
struct ImagePatch{
int xmin, xmax, ymin, ymax;
}
and then encoding some vectors:
void MyFunc(....
I'm using the CLR debugger (version 8, from "Visual Studio 2005") to debug some C# code. I can step through my code, but for many variables, the debugger won't show me its value. That is, if I type it in the "Immediate" frame or add it to the "Watch" frame, it says "Unable to evaluate the expression.".
It seems to do this a lot for va...
I am getting this error on code that used to work. I have not changed the code.

I want to use Fluent NHibernate in commercial desktop application, and I'm little concerned about the licensing. I've downloaded Fluent NHibernate precompiled binaries, and it contains this list of files:

In VB6 there are local static variables that keep their values after the exit of procedure. It's like using public vars but on local block. For example:
sub count()
static x as integer
x = x + 1
end sub
After 10 calls, x will be 10. I tried to search the same thing in .NET (and even Java) but there was none. Why? Does it break the OOP...
If I am making a proxy factory, can I just make the outgoing request saying Proxy::HTTP (there's a similar enum for SOCKS) and the SOCKS5 proxy server should automatically detect and handle that correctly, right?
