I'm trying to restore some deleted mail items using Exchange 2007 message journal items as a data source. The journaling is configured such that any incoming/outgoing messages are stored in a journal envelope message as an attachment.
Does anyone know of a utility that will take a list of Journal Mail Items (whether in a mailbox or a PST file) and extract the attached message and store that attachment as a typical mail item in an existing mail folder? Once I have the mail items, I can filter what I need to restore and end up with the original missing email.
I'm currently looking at developing an Outlook Add-In to do this, but thought I would see if anyone has already come across something.
