Online Java Book

Question

Hello,

So I have seen topics regarding Java books, and it really looks like "Effective Java" is a very good book regarding Java. Well, unfortunately, I don't have $50 to blow on a new hobby.

My question is, can anybody recommend a quality complete online Java book (preferably one available in PDF)? The closest thing I could think to relate it to would be The Django Book.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

http://www.mindview.net/Books/TIJ/ is a super good book , just doesnt got all the latest new language features but a very good place too start

Not really a book but Free Java Programming with Passion! Online Course by Sang Shin is also an excellent resource. Online, Free, Java, with PDFs of the lessons, also includes excercises.
