Apart from creating my own graphics, where can I get to see some inspiring tilesets for inspiration and use for a 2d platform game ?

some of my favourites -

SavWae sprites - a huge list of links to sprites & tiles resources

The protagonists domain

Savware is the place to go I believe, thats what leads you to Sprite-Resource.com - one of the best of the best classified collection of sprites

If you're after plain textures, try CG Textures They're a little realistic though, so you may need to change them depending on the style of your game and obviously a little bit of editing will be required.

Their library is fairly large though, and although they're mainly targeted at 3D modeling and 3D games, they should be fairly useful in the creation of quality 2D tiles.

Check out this guy's site, he's got a ton of free tilesets you can use. I've got him bookmarked for when I make my next 2d game.

Spriters-resource.com is crap, it's full of copyrighted material ripped out of commercial games, that you have no right to use. Sure if you're making some little game only you and your three friends will see, not a problem, but publish it on the internet and you can get in trouble.
