Avoiding duplicate emails during first sync between IMAP account and new email client
I have an IMAP account that I access through my email client at work, I plan to access this same account at home. The account has thousands of emails in it, and rather than downloading all of these during the first sync at home, I would like to export the emails from my mail client at work, then import them into my mail client at home before the first sync.
What I would like to know is this: If I import the emails before the first sync, will IMAP recognise them as the same emails that exist on the server? Or will it try to upload the mail I've got in my email client, while at the same time downloading the mail on the server (resulting is 2 copies in each location)?
To begin with, I'll probably be using Yahoo Zimbra as the mail client in both locations, although I may move over to Thunderbird later on.
Thanks for your advise,
Keith.
