Can AdMob be used just for iPhone app statistics/analytics or is it's sole purpose to add advertisements in the app? I want to add a statistics package to my app and track it's usage, and since Google bought AdMob I thought I should give it a try. But I don't want to display ads in my app.

Is there any other good and free stats service, apart from Pinch Analytics? Which is the best one?

Google analytics is available for iPhone (and Android) now. It has the same functionality as web sites analytics and is very easy to use.

Oh I missed that! Thanks :)

However, in my opinion Pinch Mendia's statistics are far better for the iPhone. Google's are built for webisites and don't offer things like "iPhone OS version" or "device type".

May be, I haven't tried other tools. You can send OS version in google analytics as an info in trackEvent though.

If you're looking for detailed app analytics, not advertising analytics, then I recommend considering specialized solutions. You already mentioned Pinch and I'd encourage you to try Localytics too. A few things that set us apart are (1) real-time reporting, (2) detailed data and dynamic segmentation analysis and (3) transparency via an open source SDK and full data downloads.

Thanks for letting me know Brian. Localytics looks interesting. I'm only worried about the ease of use and the built-in features (like Demographics using Facebook - I guess I have to implement that manually at this stage) but open-source and real-time seems interesting.
