I am running a FOSS desktop application. I was wondering if you have some good advice on how to manage the technical aspect of strings translation.

Currently, I have a single resource file, which users download, translate and post on a relevant tracker.

This procedure is hard to manage, since i have to keep track of who posted what, which translation is better (which i cant do for languages i dont know), etc.

Is there a good common-practice? or some known product to make this easier?

Host your project on Launchpad.net and use Rosetta (Launchpad Translations). Your resource file must be in gettext format.

Alternative solution is 99translations.com, it suports not only gettext - java resource and yml are supported too. But Launchpad is better - it's an integrated code+bugs+blueprints+questions+translations solution.

Launchpad.net seems great. Is there a tool that offers such functionality? (i am already hosted elsewhere...)
