Hi,
I've currently got a couple of potential property letting/sales agent web sites to do. I'm looking for a decent script or possibly Joomla extension to power the property search functionality.
Can anyone recommend something they have used?

Not sure what language it's available in but Zillow has a nice real estate database and they have a set of APIs that will allow you to access it.

Hot Property is the most popular one and easy to use. You have to pay to download it from the site but it's under an open-source license, so it's perfectly legal to download it from elsewhere for free. (See this question)

I saw this one on the Joomla extensions directory. However the reviews are pretty poor. Thanks for the reponse anyway.

Thinkery created a zillow module on JED.
Frankly in answer to your question if you have been on JED you have seen just about every component dealing with Real Estate most of which have many comments (other than EZ Realty) - and many also have active forums which can give practical feedback.
not sure what magic statement emanating from here is going to enlighten you an further.
Sometimes once youv'e done some basic research..you just got download a few and play with them

Hot Property is a poor component. The author rarely updates and is absent from tech support and the forums. Most of the add ons (which you need to get any real functionality) come from the community...at a cost. So you end up paying 4-5 times what the component costs to get a working real estate script.
I would recommend using Ez Realty - Kathy, the author, provides great support and has been helpful. Also, iProperty looks pretty sharp.
