I'm just diving into learning programming-mainly focusing on Java. I have learned a lot here when I have had a problem I couldn't figure out and posted it here and received great solutions and advice.

One of the most rewarding experiences for me is when some whiz comes and approaches the problem from a different angle and solves it in a different way. I learn a ton that way.

Is there a resource available (like a forum) where people work on a similar problem and share their solutions-perhaps with a mentor around?

Obviously, I'm describing what happens in school, but there are many of us learning through the internet, etc...

I'm guessing there is nothing like this out there, and that my current approach of posting questions here is the best solution?

Thanks, Joel

I like stackoverflow the best, but this site is good to have the collaboration you speak of, minus the mentoring.
