I really don't want to rile anyone's feathers and I really enjoy blogs like Joel, Coding Horror, Scott Hanselman, etc.

However, what are some good blogs/podcasts that focus on other platforms besides Microsoft based ones or maybe even no particular platform at? In particular I am interested in areas like Python, Ruby, Java, C, but any area besides Microsoft fits the bill.

There may be other similar questions to this but I think this one is unique since we might get some answers we wouldn't see otherwise, that is, everyone knows Coding Horror is great.

Please try to refrain from religious debates; the content of the blog is more important than the platform they are talking about, I just want to get an idea of what is out there and worth the time.

B-list for Django. Eric Holscher is pretty good too.

I don't know if it qualifies as one of the best, but my blog has some historical stuff, and tends to be multi-lingual. Now if I could just post to it more often...

Good question. Chris Alcock publishes an excellent daily "carnival" or roundup of the days relevant blog posts. It will lead you to many good sources.

What's more, he's in the U.K., so he's usually got the day's post up by the time East Coasters get into work.

I like the Software Engineering Radio podcast, as recommended on the Stackoverflow podcast a while back.

As a relative newbie, I don't always know exactly (or even remotely sometimes) what they're talking about, but it's still entertaining and educational.

Bruce Eckel writes very concisely on languages, processes, and industry trends.

Paul Graham is a living legend...!

Except for his Lisp ranting (which also is true to some extent) I perceive most of what Paul says for timeless masterpieces...

Jeff Atwood (CodingHorror) reads him (Paul Graham) too...

I also like My blog, but I guess I am biased ... ;)

I blog mostly about programming and in fact even more mostly about Ra-Ajax (since that's my main project) but I also blog about other things that interests me like freedom in general like this post about How to free your mind...

Python's BDFL seems to have started a new blog.

And since it seems ok to post shameless plugs, my blog attempts to be language and OS independent (although there is some microsoft stuff there).
