I have to say that I am really missing Query Analyzer now that the functionality has been integrated into the much heavier SQL Management Studio provided with SQL Server 2005/2008. I was looking for suggestions for a cheap/free and lightweight querying IDE with functionality similar to query analyzer so I don't have to wait for this big honker to start up evertime I just want to run a quick query against one of my SQL databases.

I've never used it, so it might take just as long to load as SQL Management Studio, but you could try out SQL Query at www.SQLManager.net.

Why not use query analyzer? That's what I do with SQL Server 2005. It's great for queries. Not so great when I need to script some procedures or tables (though that's alleviated by a script I wrote to do procs anway), and utterly hopeless when I want to import data though.
Agreed. It does the job...

I have noticed that for some reason it acts flaky since I installed SQL 2005 SSMS. For example when I paste text into it, the text is invisible until I select it. Is there an easy way to just install QA without the full SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager?

Weird bug, I've got no idea but maybe you need a re-install. As for installing QA without everything else, I don't know. I think that would be worth a separate question.
