a great resource of information regarding live555 is actually the newsgroup (gmane.comp.multimedia.live555.devel). This group together with doxygen and the brief documentation in the code itself should give you an idea how to make it asynchronously. openRTSP / playCommon i.e. is a great example in the testProgs of live555
