I made a word processor by editing the resources of MS WordPad (for XP) and for some reason, when I apply my program as the default application for RTF files, the icons wouldn't show up and used icons from Word 2007. I read somewhere that Windows applications used the registry to locate icons and sometimes load crucial settings. Well, my program feeds off WordPad and Word 2007's entries and my resource editor doesn't show the registry entries the program should use to locate its icons and settings. Is there a program that lets me change what registry entries it should look up, read and write?

Also, when I put my program in a certain folder, it malfunctions by disabling all features, including open and save, and the theme gets all messed up. In addition, everytime I close the program in Vista, no matter what folder it's in, Windows says the application stopped responding right after it disappears. Why?
