Why is that some people feel that they don't need to follow particular practices and standards, or indeed keep themselves up to date with new technologies?
Is it really the case that teams who have done things in a certain fashion for say the past 5 or 10 years shouldn't need to change because it works and have happy customers?
If you have happy customers but really sloppy practices (i.e. just get something out there that works) then should these people even change?
Do they need to change?
How is it possible to convince someone that good practice is worth doing IF they 'already' have 'happy customers'?
Note: The team is an in-house government outfit, so the customers are internal - I feel this is the important distinction here against other 'private' software firms.
Sorry for the multiple questioning, can you tell it's driving me nuts ;-)
