I am using Sharepoint Designer to set a list field called Region to one of our six regions and the Target Audience field on the list item to a matching sharepoint group called "ESG-R region-name" where region-name is West or Northeast or Central etc. The lookup for this is off our team contacts list and the region entered there for each team member.

I can set the target audience field to ESG-R Admin; ESG-R [%Team Contacts:Region%] and that data does get updated into the list as an item is added or edited. However it seems not to actually register on the Sharepoint View until I edit the list item, see the unverified target audience entries, and press the check addresses button. That gets those two audience groups underlined and working.

Is there a way within SPD I can do the equivalent function to pressing the check addresses button? I don't see any action that fits, and don't currently have the programming skills to add a layer of java etc code, though I could probably follow instructions and cut and paste. I come from a mainframe COBOL background and am very new to net and microsoft code.

Pointers would be appreciated. I'm browsing the blogs as time allows but it's slow as I come up to speed on the terms and the software. I will need to do something like this for a number of future lists, where our sprawling staff is divided into groups that should NOT see each other's sales, absences, expense reports, etc.

Thank you, Elena
