I have a setup.exe exetuable which is built wich an acient Demoshield (I know I must get rid of it, but now is the wrong moment). When started the setup.exe shows a simple welcome screen. It works on Windows XP, Vista, 7 (tested with 32 bit OSes).

On several of our machines (Windows 7 Professional 32bit and Windows XP SP3 32 bit) the setup.exe does not start up silently ONLY in case if the file is located under the user home folder, i.e. %TEMP% folder or desktop folder for example.

As soon as I move the setup.exe to some other locatation outside of the user home, like C:\root for instance, the application starts working fine.

AppBlocker has no rules on affected Win 7. The current user has all effective access rights enabled for the file there too. The same occurs if to try to start the setup.exe as Administrator.

The issue occurs on only two machines, dousens of other Win 7, Win Vista, Win XP users do not experience this problem.

I have seen that the Quicktime 7.1.6 installations can interfere with the Demoshield executables. But I cannot reproduce the issue on my Win 7 even when Quicktime is installed.

What can be the reason of such strange behaviour? Thank you!
