I don't know if it's worth to change profession from tester into business analyst. Do you have some experiences with such transition? What are ups and downs of such move? Is business analyst more profitable?

I would be grateful for any help.

A:

Generally, business analyst is a more "skilled" position, compared to tester. However, there are also probably less business analysts per software house than tester.

The very short answer is that (usually) a business analyst will earn more than a tester, but there are less opportunities (and, likely) more experience / skill / etc required for the business analyst positions. However, I still think it is a net win.
