Wordpress - links no longer working in my posts, returning bad request

Question

i'm having problems putting links into my wordpress blog. the site has been up with no problems for two years now but it is no longer letting my post links in my posts. i'm trying to add in a link like this:

<a href="http://google.com"&gt;link&lt;/a&gt;

when the blog is published this link is returned as this:

http://spacesaverscommunity.com/blog/%5C%22http://google.com%5C%22

or visually:

http://spacesaverscommunity.com/blog/\"http://google.com\"

i have no idea why it is adding the site's url before the desired link now. again this started happening out of nowhere today and not sure how to fix. any advice is much appreciated.
