Does anyone have a list of the most commonly pressed keys on an English QWERTY keyboard?
A:
Depends on the users of your intended solution.
Depending on that you could take various texts like:
- older novels,
- modern novels,
- newspapers,
- magazines,
- modern slang documents etc etc.
And count letters.
Or combine all of them and get a conglomerate number. Add to these
- SPACE,
- ENTER,
- SHIFT and
- BackSpace.
Depending on the target platform you should add some more like LEFT, RIGHT, UP and DOWN.

It might be better to look for an analysis of characters used in the english language, ie a letter frequency analysis. See this wikipedia article I guess it would depend how much typing the average keyboard user does as to whether the frequency analysis would be a good indication of actual keypresses.
This will not include control keys like enter, and backspace though. Not sure where you would find that information.
