I'm looking for a good project management tool for 2 developers. I prefer online services such as basecamp but others are welcome as well.

Some tools are heavily designed for large teams so looking for project managements tools which is suitable for really small teams like 2 to 4 developer.

It can Open Source or Commercial.

Assembla is good.

We're currently using this in a small team i'm in.

FogBUGZ is free for exactly two developers.

Nice bugtracker as well, check the docs on BugzScout.

I think FogBugz is more like bug-feature drivent project management with lack of features such as setting up milestones, am I right?

[Feature Page](http://www.fogcreek.com/FogBugz/details.html) says you can categorize by Milestone

I think FogBugz is more than I thought, it's just there is no quick start or something like that. Anyway I'll try to dig more.

Nitpick: Technically it's free for "less than or equal to" two developers. :)

With two developers you could possibly get away with a Microsoft Project or Open Workbench project file in version control (I've used this before with a two person team).

If you're using Agile methodologies, XPlanner is a nice, web-based, open-source project management tool. It's simple and lightweight, but what it does, it does well.

I agree with xplanner being simple and lightweight, which is a nice change from today's ajax-heavy planning apps. However, I don't think the xplanner project has much activity, and there are several outstanding issues that can make it a pain to install and use.

We use Redmine and we just love it.

It's very intuitive, fully configurable and clean.

It's not hosted solution, it's build on Ruby on Rails, so some knowledge of Rails could help you install it on your server.

We've also tried GoPlan, which is a simple online project management tool with a free plan (up to two projects). It's simple and intuitive as well.

Lighthouse - simple & clean, hosted, free for 2 people and 1 project.

I really like Target Process...they have a free version available.

I prefer Mingle from ThoughtWorks. It's geared towards the agile methods but is really easy to configure and adapt to your own circumstances.

Check out Intervals, a web-based project management tool that charges by the project, not by the number of users. So it would be ideal for 2 or 200 developers.

@MattK

I support you. XPlanner is the best. XPlanner-Plus is the continuation of XPlanner. New features are under intensive development. Demo is available. And XPlanner+ has activity :)

I will vote for Assembla, big feature set.

In our small shop we are currently using Software Planner. You can view traceability and manage all aspects of our development. It is fairly inexpensive as well.

We are using VisionProject. This tool is working fine for both quite large teams and for small teams.
