I'm reading Code Complete 2, and I'm curious about the metaphor he mentions used by Paul Heckel between writing software and filming Snow White. Does anyone now the details about this?

Thanks.

Maybe they're talking about the imposed process of using rotoscoping? My understanding is that a number of Disney animators didn't take kindly to it:

However, some of the Disney animators looked down at rotoscoping, since some referred to it as a “crutch” for the artists who lacked the skill in animation. Grim Natwick even said that rotoscoping was only used as basis for their work; however the elaborate portions in creating an animation were done beyond rotoscoping. -- link
