I'm trying to get mod_rewrite to work on a client's website who insisted that we use Godaddy web hosting. She's got a shared linux hosting account. Will mod_rewrite work (using .htaccess) and if so, how? I'm not sure if Godaddy uses Apache or not.

Yes, GoDaddy's Linux hosting uses Apache, and mod_rewrite via .htaccess is available to you. A quick Google revealed a number of caveats you may run into, top amongst them being 15-60 minute delays before .htaccess changes take effect.

Frankly, I avoid GoDaddy like the plague, especially for hosting. Nothing but bad experiences with them.
