Recently, Sun launched a new hosting site, like SourceForge and GitHub, but for Mercurial. However, for the time being, it's invite-only.

Being a Hg user, I'm very interested in getting an invite, but I have no idea where to find them. Are only Sun-employees given invitations to hand out? What can one do to earn such an invite?

Not an answer, but another choice for Mercurial is: http://bitBucket.org

And it even supports OpenID ;)

Interesting, I'd like one as well, but it seems that you have to do some convincing with the admins... Would like to know if another way is possible too.

You only need an invitation to Create a project. We are doing this to keep things a little more under control while we bring the Beta site up to speed.

You do NOT need an invitation to register on the site and get involved with an existing project. Jump in and get going.

To get an invitation, get to know some of the project Admins for the existing projects. They all get extra invites to give out when they were originally invited themselves.

If you think you have a really great project that could be hosted on Project Kenai, you can also send an email to kenai-adminsun.com and request an invite that way. Make sure you let those folks know what kind of project you want to host here though. Not everyone get's an invite to start with.

honestly, I don't have a project that I'd want to work on right now. It was more theory. Thanks, When I figure something out, I'll give you an email if they're still in beta. Give it to someone who is going to use it! much appreciate though.
