I'm currently working on my own startup business, and need a company to do some software developement for it. I'm having trouble getting large companies (Siemens/IBM) to listen to me, and finding companies that want to take on the creation of what appears to be some challenging software is just as hard. Any hints or tips would be great. Unfortunately, as I want to protect my commercial property, I'm not comfortable giving away too much.

Talk to people you know and ask for references. Go to a local developer meeting that is geared towards the technology stack you want to use.

The big guys like IBM are geared towards companies that are willing to make multi-year, million dollar + investments.

Regardless, I highly recommend using someone local to you so that you can have face to face meetings.
