My Employer gave me a MSDN License, not that I asked for it. I have been programming in the Java world all these years and on C++ in Linux.

I am wondering what all I can do with this License, considering that I don't work on Dot Net ?? :-(

It really depends upon which subscription level you have. Take a look here for a comparison of the various subscription levels.

For a given level, any software that is provided to you is for development and testing use only.

Depending on the subscription level, it may also include tech support incidents, which can be handy in a pinch.

Thanks Aaron. The comparison was useful.

Well, what do you mean exactly? Are you asking what can you do with it in terms of technical aspects or legal aspects. A typical MSDN license grants you the ability to develop, test, and publish software royalty free. MSDN has a variety of tools not just for .NET programming but including C++ and VB6 tools. Depending on your subscription you may have access to older versions of the IDEs.

Only in terms of technical aspects. Some people got the question wrong :-(

You could give it to me... As a gift.. Because I'm such a spiffy guy.. or because I am a kick-ass .NET programmer and would be able to put a license like that to excellent use.

You could sell it on eBay ... is that what you mean by gave it to you or do you just get one for work?

A lot of times you can download operating systems and server software, so it isn't only for .Net developers.

Vistual Studio 2008/2005/2008, Team Suite variant. SQL Server 2000/2005/2008. Expression Studio 1/2. Those are the biggies I could remember off the top of my head.
