I am building an application over the Windows Indexing Service. The application is (among other things) used to search in text files containing IP addresses and textual data.

When using the built-in "Indexing Service Query Form" in order to test the search capabilities, to search IP addresses, it returns non-relevant result. As far as I understand, this is due to the fact IP address contains dots (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX) within, and dots has special meaning in Indexing Service. I tried using quotes ("") around the query, but that didn't help.

What is the syntax, if such exists, which can be used for my search?
