I am trying to write a simple Perl CGI script that:
runs a CLI script
reads the resulting .out file and converts the data in the file to an HTML table.
Here is some sample data from the .out file:

I'm relatively new to CSS, and have used it to change the style and formatting of text.
I would now like to use it to insert text as shown below:
<span class="OwnerJoe">reconcile all entries</span>
Which I hope I could get to show as:
Joe's Task: reconcile all entries
That is, simply by virtue of being of class "Owner Joe", I want ...
Hi,
I've got a page full of links to another page with anchors on the end (like this: index.html#anchor). On the page they point to, I have a script that is supposed to read where the anchor points to in order to display something.
On firefox it works perfectly, But I've noticed that IE seems to remove the #anchor from the end of the ur...
Hi guys, i came across a scenario where giving a <script> element an "ID" would solve a problem easily. However, after reading about the script tag at w3schools and quirksmode, it seems doing so could have some unforeseen consequences. Has anyone come across any of these issues with modern browsers such as Chrome, Safari, FF3 up and IE 7...

I am having trouble preserving an ampersand in a code example on my blog, because all HTML entities start with &.
Any tips?
For example:
<pre>
<code>
<?php
$pageTitle = str_replace('&', ' &', $page->attributes()->title);
?>

Renders as:

$pageTitle = str_replace('&', '&', $page->attributes()->title);

It gives me the following message:
The requested URL

Any suggestions?

Given a string of text that is both adjacent to a span and inside of a div, what are some methods to modify just that text, leaving the surrounding HTML intact? For example:

I've seen this done in a lot of sites recently, but can't seem to track one down. Essentially I want to "disable" an entire panel (that's in the form on an HTML table) when a button is clicked.
By disable I mean I don't want the form elements within the table to be usable and I want the table to sort of fade out.
I've been able to acc...

In 2010, would you serve URLs containing UTF-8 characters in a large web portal?
Unicode characters are forbidden as per the RFC on URLs (see here). They would have to be percent encoded to be standards compliant.
My main point, though, is serving the unencoded characters for the sole purpose of having nice-looking URLs, so percent enc...
