Hey,
I would like to save a modified model, but I get Programming error - that a field is specified twice.
class ProductInfo(models.Model):
product_info_id = models.AutoField(primary_key=True)
language_id = models.IntegerField()
product_id = models.IntegerField()
description = models.TextField(blank=True)

I feel a little stupid for having to ask this… But I can't seem find it documented anywhere.
If I've got a Model with FileField, how can I stuff an uploaded FILE into that FileField?
For example, I'd like to do something like this:
class MyModel(Model):
file = FileField(...)
def handle_post(request, ...):
mymodel = MyModel.o...
Hi, I am using imagekit to handle custom size of uploaded images. While it works fine for creating custom size images with this, I'd like to use imagekit to resize the original image on upload. Is this possible?

I've finally installed all the requirements (so i think!) of a Django project, and I'm trying to get a local install running on my Mac (OSX 10.4).
I'm getting the following error:

I've got some code that runs on every (nearly) every admin request but doesn't have access to the 'request' object.
I need to find the path to Django installation. I could do:

django_path = django.__file__
but that seems rather wasteful in the middle of a request.
Does putting the import at the start of the module wast...
I have looked and I could not find this question before, and it surprises me.
I am reasonably proficient in Python, and I used Dreamhost for a number of years. Now I would like to learn Django. They are finally supporting it using Passenger. Which I do not know what is.
Following the instructions on Dreamhost I installed Django. Then I...
Here's my Model:
class User(models.Model):

class Item(models.Model):

class ItemVote(models.Model):

I want to retrieve a list of Items, and I want to know if the current user has voted for each Item. How do I alter...
Often times applications will need some database code tables (aka reference tables or domain tables or lookup tables). Suppose I have a model class called Status with a field called name that could hold values like:
Canceled
Pending
InProgress
Complete
Where and at what point would I setup these values in Django? Its like a one time...
I have been using South on my project for a while, but I recently did a huge amount of development and changed development machine and I think something messed up in the process. The project works fine, but I can't apply migrations. Whenever I try to apply a migration I get the following traceback:

Is there a way to set foreign key relationship using the integer id of a model? This would be for optimization purposes.
For example, suppose I have an Employee model:
class Employee(models.Model):
first_name = models.CharField(max_length=100)
last_name = models.CharField(max_length=100)
type = models.ForeignKey('EmployeeType')
...
There are plenty of them out there but a lot of them are old - can anyone recommend a plugin which they recently implemented?
The only thing I really care about is gmail/yahoo, facebook and twitter are optional.

I am new to django and python in general, so pardon me for any simple mistakes I may be doing. I am trying to setup my first django project on my local windows vista machine. I have created the project successfully with no problems. The issue I am coming across is when my settings.py has values for my database keys, the manage.py runs...
I feel like I saw a site somewhere that would "dedupe" error messages commonly sent from frameworks like Django or cron errors. I cannot seem to re-find the site however. Have people heard of online tools like this that help wade through the hundreds of emails applications can possibly send at times?

I've seen all the howtos about how you can set a ModelMultipleChoiceField to use a custom queryset and I've tried them and they work. However, they all use the same paradigm: the queryset is just a filtered list of the same objects.
In my case, I'm trying to get the admin to draw a multiselect form that instead of using usernames as th...
I've seen answers to both halves of my question, but I can't work out how to marry the two.
I have a book model, and a translatedBook model.
