I've been wanting to use Red5 for quite a long time but everytime I set out and try something, I keep getting stuck. The examples that come with the application are informative, but I just can't seem to wrap my mind around everything (especially the Java part, since that is not one of my 'core' languages). Is there anyone who has found a tutorial or site that will help beginners with the Red5 software feel a bit more at ease? Or are there any books on this subject you have found really useful ?

I found the examples from the Red5 Homepage very helpful, especially http://www.red5tutorials.net/index.php/Tutorials. For a slow start, more of generic Flash stuff mixed in with Flash programming and Red5, are the very extensive video sessions at http://www.flashextensions.com/tutorials.php. I'm not aware of a book related specifically to Red5.

I should probably add that I was programming Java for some time before I took a look at the Red5 Server, so the Java part was less of a problem.

Here is my link list I gathered with regard to Red 5, unsorted and uncommented. Hope it helps.

There are some really good tutorials on Youtube for Red5. This first one is from a true beginner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=005misoIKAQ&feature=PlayList&p=174BE7CF0C91055B&index=0&playnext=1
This series is from on of the Project developers: http://www.youtube.com/user/dominickaccattato#p/c/9B94807E1D0AF2DE
Lastly, you can use the wiki which also has tutorials: http://wiki.red5.org/
