Hi. I have set up a pptp vpn on windows xp, and added the users. The vpn users can connect to the server, but once they are connected they can't access the internet via the vpn server which should act like a proxy. That's my basic task - to make a vpn server serve as a proxy for the users.

Can someone explain why the users are not able to access the internet via the vpn server OR Point me to some site where this is well explained ?

Thanks in advance.

The RAS Server configuration allows you to control whether the connecting computers can access the server, or the server and the network. The Windows Settings on the machine doing the VPN dial up can control whether they use the VPN connection to connect to the remote network only, or if they use the VPN connection as its default gateway.

Both these settings would cause you the problems you are seeing. Ask on http://serverfault.com for directions on how to check these settings, and for further advice if you have a more serious problem.
