I'm trying to do our training office's job and find a good training boot camp for the MCPD ASP.NET Developer v3.5 certification. I'm trying to find one that is in the US and includes the exams as part of the boot camp (leave the camp certified). I am finding a few, but was wondering if anyone has any recommendations or any "Definitely don't bother with that one" comments.

Here are a couple I've found with my quick search so far.

http://www.trainingcamp.com/training/microsoft/mcpdweb/overview.aspx

http://www.cedsolutions.com/outlines/index.cfm?classClassroomID=461

This one, if I'm reading they're site correctly, doesn't include the exams, just vouchers for them, but I figured I'd include anyway. Man, that's a lot of commas in one sentence.

So can anyone provide me with their insights, experiences, or opinions? Thanks in advance for any thing you can share.

It really depends on what you are after. If you just want a certification then the boot camps can help you prepare to pass. The possibility of actually getting any real knowledge that you can use long term is very slim. The information comes at too fast of a pace to really retain anything after the exam. These camps aren't for everyone either. You do need some information about the technology you are learning. It will be very difficult to go into one of these "cold" and do well.

Oh, yeah, I mean, I've been a ASP.Net developer for 4 years now and a web developer for 10+. It's just that our organization is requiring everyone get a MCP, and if I don't wanna just get the same Windows XP, one exam cert, that everyone else is getting, I have to get the information myself.

I understand. At my last place they were really big on that too. I never really understood why. I guess the piece of paper made you an expert. The sad part was that some people did think that if they went to the class that they would really get expertise in that area and were sore mistaken when they tried to apply what they had learned.

Try Adventos. They are out of Colorodo but also have a government sector training office out of Washington DC. They provide their own laptops for bootcamp training on your company's premises.

I worked for Booz Allen Hamilton when I took my bootcamp back in 2006. At the end of the class we took three exams. All of us passed at least 1 exam. Many past 2. And a select few got their full MCPD web certification.

1 passed exam = Microsoft Certified Professional 2 passed exams = Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist 3 passed exams = Microsoft Certified Professional Developer

You can find them at: Aventos.com

I would also suggest that everyone taking the bootcamp also get the self paced training kits for the exams as they will serve as part of your study material. It's a good reference to have.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I wasn't able to find any specific boot camp or training course from their site. I do appreciate your input through. I ended up sending our training office the above three links for the specific boot camps, so I guess I'll post my own opinion of the training that I end up getting sent to.

Well, I went ahead and completed my MCPD ASP.NET Developer v3.5 certification, and I chose to go with a company named CED Solutions for the boot camp as part of getting my certification. I can't say enough about CED, everything was well run and very organized.

The cost of the camp included the roundtrip flights, hotel for the 8 days we were there, as well as the exams. They feed us well with provided breakfasts and lunches, provided shuttles to and from the hotel, and were more than willing to stay late to ensure all the material was covered.

The boot camp's cost also included an extra exam voucher, should you fail one of your exams. A couple of my classmates did use their voucher, but just they got themselves scheduled for the retake the next morning, and passed. All in all, we had 13 people in the camp and everyone left with their certifications. I do recommend CED Solutions.

Hi, You can try for IT certification bootcamps in India. They have a good training facility as well as it is a cheap option for getting [Microsoft][2], [Cisco][3], Adobe and other certifications. Jitendra

I just completed the two week, 16 day, boot camp at CED Solutions to obtain my MCPD Certifications. I couldnt be more happy with my experience. The facility was very nice and everything was well organized. Our instructor, Suzy Moore, was very professional and knowledgeable. While we were there we had class daily from about 8am to 5pm depending on how much material we needed to cover that day, and then it was necessary to study/read at least an additional 5 to 6 hours once we were back at the hotel. The best part for me was to meet other people in the field from around the country and hear their ideas and implementations of the concepts we were learning. Im so happy overall with the experience that im planning on going back to get my MCTIP for SQL Server, and if my company wont pay for it i may just come out of pocket for it myself.
