Hi there I upgraded our sharepoint 2003 to SP3 and applied post sp3 hotfixes to both SPS and WSS. Now I have a random problem. When I launch sharepoint I get an error message

An unexpected error has occurred.

Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this page to temporarily disable Web Parts or remove personal settings. For more information, contact your site administrator.

The message is misleading because there is nothing wrong with the web parts. If I close the browser, open it again and relaunch sharepoint everything work good, Another solution when I get this error is to go to another site - www.google.com - and then back to sharepoint. everthing works.

I checked the event viewer and I get this error ( same every time this problem occurs)

Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.1830, stamp 42435be1, faulting module stswel.dll, version 11.0.8239.0, stamp 490a4b99, debug? 0, fault address 0x000b3e92.

On the server 2003, IIS only runs sharepoint and reporting services. They have separate application pools. (It was like this before SP3 and post SP3 hot fixes and there was no such problem)

I searched for some hot fix for this but I was not able to find anything. The level of the stswel.dll is 11.0.8239 and I believe it is the latest one.

I also ran the IISDiagnose but it did not tell me anything that I did not know already. The problem is with the STSWEL.DLL on the sharepoint portal application pool. No memory leaks.

Any help? any ideas? Thanks
