I am working on a software project that uses video. I am in the process of refactoring this software, the process of which requires me to convert some video files from swf to mpg (the swf files were created using Adobe Premiere). Can someone point me in the direction of a software package (open source, if possible) that will do a lossless conversion from swf to mpg (mpeg-4). I have a lot of files to convert, so the software being callable from the command line or having macro language would be a bonus. Thanks.

You should probably check out FFmpeg, it's free and it can transcode most formats.

I've had good success with FFmpeg for any sort of transcoding task. Am not sure it's lossless though, I think you'll still get some degradation trancoding from one codec to another.

That would all depend on the codec source and destination, unless it's a bug in FFmpeg...can't say I've seen that behaviour myself.

As to SWF converter,i recommend Moyea SWF to video converter standard, which can easily convert swf to avi,flv,mov,wmv,mp4 etc and it also can convert swf to audio&image formats
