What consequences from Technology point of view will happen as VMware has taken Spring ? What would merger between VMware and Spring mean from software industry point of view ?

I think the combination of Spring's work with Tomcat and OSGi, integrated into VMWare virtualization, gives them a nice stack for a clustered, virtual, shared, and managed application environment. Perhaps they'll make it seamless, and do it without EJBs.
Spring's ship certainly came in with this purchase. It let them pay back the $10M in VC money they got a year ago. It gives them deeper pockets and a larger platform to use to penetrate corporate data centers. We'll see if it pans out.
