What are your experiences with ScrumPad?

A:

I have no experience with ScrumPad, but as the commenters are saying it looks very promising so thanks for asking this question.

You should also have a look at Mingle which is another great project management tool created by ThoughtWorks (Martin Fowler's employer).

After reading your question I investigated a little. I have worked with other Scrum tools in the past, and compared to those I really like Scrumpad. Some things I like...

  • It's a hosted solution! No server setup required, nice.
  • Easily accessible workflow diagrams to help people new to scrum.
  • I'll be able to list more once I've used it a while.

Definitely something I will try using on our next project to see how it goes. Thanks for pointing it out!

My biggest problem is that it is hosted, and I don't see a place to put it on my own servers. I might be paranoid, but when it comes to business processes, I feel those should stay in house.

Hosted solutions are great for some people, but not everyone. There's actually a corner of the software development world where work occurs on isolated networks. That means unless I can install the application on my own server, I have to jump between keyboards for the two disconnected networks in order to accomplish all of my work. The entire world is not connected to the internet (really).

Maybe ScrumDesk can be interesting too.

Scrumpad seems a complete solution to me for managaing SCRUM projects as one can iterate as well as collaborate through it. Before using it i used to use version one, basecamp and some other tools but now i use only it!

A:

ScrumPad will be available for corporate instances and also owned instances soon. I am from the ScrumPad team and we are currently working on making ScrumPad available in your server as well as a hosted service. In the meanwhile, you may wish to keep checking the new features and provide feedback for 30 day, full free. ScrumPad will help you scrumming best, with least effort.

Informative, but should probably be a comment in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/167198/what-are-your-experiences-with-scrumpad/257897#257897 instead of standalone answer

What about support for SVN source code hosting?

I think it's a wonderful tool, and progressing fast. We are using ScrumPad for a while and enjoyed some of its interesting features over other related products. If you are new to ScrumPad it will allow you to learn fast by offering all the functionalities of Scrum in a simple way. It has different collaboration options inbuilt like chat, wiki and messages against a story etc.

AgileSoup has a licensed program. I was using Scrumpad too until I discovered AgileSoup. I found Scrumpad too convoluted. AgileSoup does it for our team, a solid but not overloaded feature set, simple, intuitive interface. Very highly recommended.
