I am an experienced video-slot type game developer. There is a small gaming company who wants to try their luck with an iPhone game, and they want me to work on it. They want to know how long it would take me to develop a game using Unity3D, given that they provide all the graphics and game rules. I don't have any experience with Unity3D or the iPhone, but I have done some programming on the mac and I know c# very well (unity uses c# scripts). Does anybody have an idea of a 'typical' project length? I understand this is extremely vague, I appreciate any comments.

There is no such thing as a "typical" project length, especially in games. The length of your project will be directly proportional to the scope of the game (number of features), number of people (and what they specialize in) and experience (with the particular tools, libraries, and genre).
When in doubt, double your initial estimate and add some.

Thanks, I will go back and get more detail on the specific features.

I would try asking over at:
http://iphonegamedev.stackexchange.com/
It's not a high-volume site yet, but it has potential and you might get a better answer there. Perhaps re-phrase in terms of, what helpful tips are there for doing a Unity project for the first time?
