What is this "Senior Level Developer" status?

Almost everywhere I look in classifieds I see: "Looking for Senior .NET Developer", "Senior Silverlight Developer", etc. Do you define the "Senior Level" status by the years of experience or something else?

The term "senior" here is subjective, but usually infers some advanced experience.
