Hi all,

I am trying to get something very simple done since a long time with Google Maps, and just can't get it done. This is so confusing and counter-intuitive unlike many Google products. I am not sure if I should be putting this question on superuser.com , but I am putting it here, as this is far more active.

Say, I am in a new town and I want to create a personal map with some major shopping places, my stay place and some transport joints, to get a sense of their relative positionings. Now I want to be able to search for a place by name in Google map and then once I see it on map, pin it or mark it with an annotation and store in a saved map. Then, I search for the next location, and pin/mark it and store it in the same map as before, so that now I have both the markers on the same map.

A few things I have tried:

My maps -> create a map. -> edit , I surely get those pins/markers on left top, but then the view containing the point I had search from map (which I was about to pin) gets lost. and thus I dont know where to drop those markers.

Could someone please try this and suggest a tested solution.

Thanks a tons!!

PS: I have looked into the google map maker video tutorials etc, but couldn't solve the exact probelm I am facing. When I see those pins/markers on top left, I cant get to see the location I want to map and when I see the location I want to mark, I dont see those pins and markers at the top. Could someone please suggested a tested solution.
