I'm not clear about this and I would like to hear from you about tools and methodologies that you're using for logging and auditing within SOA Ecosystem? Which directions can I go?

I believe in the following strategy:

  1. UI applications should log user actions: this source is about all about administration issues with clear human messages about what's happening when people interact. It open space for Business Activity Monitoring (BAM).

  2. Services should log system errors and warnings: this source is for IT staff, encompassing all kind of messages. It open space for many SOA Monitoring and Management tools.

We are using Membrane SOA Router to log data about each invocation into a central Membrane Registry instance. Both tools are open source. A show case instance of the registry is online service-repository.com. Have a look at the statistics, event and monitoring tab of individual services.
