Would like to see a list of affordable ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 Hosting providers build up. Along with your review of the service, lacking features, special features, etc...

  1. Discount ASP.NET
  2. MochaHost At last update MochaHost does not offer SP1  they now offer SP1
  3. CrystalTech
  4. Gearhost
  5. HostMySite

please add more

update: Anybody see a better deal for shared hosting ASP.NET than ASP.NETpro From GearHost? I would like to see more SQL storage, but I need keep the multiple domain capabilities. For about the same price.

HostLab I've never used them, but I just found them.

Mosso They have a "cloud" I believe this is owned by RackSpace.

RexM
I will second Mosso. Awesome support.

InfoQuest.com ... They have been the easiest and most helpful for us.

discountasp.net has a great list of features but the performance on "my" server is so bad I cant get into the "control panel" without timing out...

Update:

Recently got a very detailed response from them, descibing problems with their backbone.

They certainly seem to be on their toes and I am now a lot more positive about them again.

Merrry christmans!

elgrego
Did they fix the problem?

I was with Discountasp.net for a long time. They were a great service for me.

They come with a price tag that is not cheap. Especially when you start adding SQL Servers to the mix.

I use Server Intellect for my personal site. Shared-hosting accounts are managed by customers using the HELM control panel, allowing me to control quite a great deal of aspects of my hosting settings. What I cannot do myself, I get prompt and responsive assistance from SI's technical support staff, despite being half way across the globe. They are helpful and regularly complete my task requests competently without much instruction.

Anybody tried SoftSys Hosting ?
Seems like a good deal and they already have ASP.NET 3.5 SP1.

I use SoftSys hosting and I think they are good. Both service and support has been great. I've used about 10 hosts and SoftSys has been the best so far.

I loved SoftSys and may go back at some point.

I talked to an online sales rep at MochaHost, he said they don't have .NET 3.5 SP1.

Thanks for the homework. +1

I looked today (June 19, 2009) and their summary page says they do have .NET Framework 3.5 SP1: http://www.mochahost.com/webhosting_windows.php

Just signed up for SoftSys Hosting. Setup the DB and deployed my app with Entity Framework in minutes. So it does have SP1. Looks great so far.

I'm loving SoftSysHosting so far. Small hiccup with parking a domain. But they solved it in a support case for me (outside of the control panel)
tyndall
Wow. They look pretty good!
davewasthere
ew, Entity framework ;). Yuk.
CoffeeAddict
we are discussing windows hosting providers, not opinions about EF.

Just talked to GearHost, yes they do support .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Tech support seemed to understand my questions on .NET, so looks like good hosting provider, but still checking other providers. Got off the phone with GoDaddy after signing up and they have refunded in full due to this problem, so just wanted to mention.

Looking for something where you find moderate SQL Server space but higher bandwidth. I like crystal tech but they provide very less space where i can't fit my videos for Silverlight :-)

what about Azure?

I have hopes for Azure, but from my experience it's not ready for anything at this point. The system is not intuitive. I've spent more time on trying to set up Azure than I'd like. Hosting I feel should be easy to set up so you can focus on building your applications/sites.

I've used Stormhosts for over 8 years now. Have found their support to be excellent, and while some other providers are cheaper, I've not had a reason to switch.

If I'm doing something, even after midnight on a Sunday (for example) and need something that the Helm control panel won't expose, I submit a support request and I don't think it's ever taken longer than about half an hour to be resolved. I couldn't rave about them enough.

Downsides: They aren't the cheapest, and diskspace/traffic allowance would be constricting for very large/popular sites.

Try http://www.bizhostnet.com . Has all the ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 features on Win 2008, MSSQL 2008 and MySQL databases included in the price. MSSQL space initially is 50MB but you can request up to 500MB for free. The site is pretty fast too.

I like Bizhostnet.com too! I host with them and their services have been great for my web site. The best thing about them is that you can get several web site under the same Control Panel but still have them completely separate, which makes life just so much easier in terms of management.

I've been using WebHost4Life for a while, and it's reasonable. I'll have to compare to these other suggestions.

However, I see WebHost4Life put a new banner on their page saying it's 100% powered by wind... I'm not entirely sure that's something I should feel good about, when it comes to a data center.

Using Reliablesite, by far the most affordable .net 3.5 hosting plans available and awesome servers.
