Ok, this might sound like a weird question at first but ... believe me, this is not a stupid one.
If World War 3 happens, will Microsoft have any chance to sell Windows? Will they make .NET source open and free? Will C# die? I think Java will have best chance to survive but I want to hear your opinions.
Why do I ask this question? Well, this question came to my mind because of 2 reasons:
- I watched the movie 2012 and am hearing all the bad news everyday.
- Many people have predicted the day MS die but none has succeeded. I think MS will not die because of some reasons coming from inside the industry. It may die because of reasons coming from something which MS can't control (that could come from outside of the industry like war for example).
The more practical version of this question will be: "When life is more difficult, what technologies will we rely on?" Linux seems to be much more open and cheaper than Windows but I have seen many equipments on battle ships using Windows 2000. And I think Java is very expensive (all the Java hosting comes with unbelievable price!). If the cheaper wins, then .NET will be the winner?
