How to get started with parsing network streams in c++?

I'm having hard time getting started with this, can you provide learning resources,hello world demos,or tips?

boost::asio, has all the examples you need to get started, with the added advantage that it works in windows! :) If, like me, you can't be bothered to compile your own for windows, simply install from the boostpro website, those folks have various flavours...
