Can you recommend a particular software for managing digital assets like images, sound files, videos on the web? This is for internal consumption on my development group and managing communication with graphic designers.

(It doesn't have to be free)

Thanks

You can't beat BaseCamp for this functionality.

Well, I'm looking for something that handles media a little bit better than Basecamp

Source control like SVN does this pretty well.

What functionality are you looking for? I have used BaseCamp in the past when working with designers and it provided great functionality for versioning the files for instance and having the files under a project. Just the overall collaboration flowed real well when working with the designers to get what I wanted and then retrieving the files for use.

I am not sure how much this software costs, but it looks like it may be something you are looking for or can base off of. It is called Cumulus. I haven't used it though.

I can firmly recommend Surround SCM from Seapine Software. Not only is it a first rate source configuration management system, but it also has strong support for versioning of image content - you can even do pixel by pixel diff, between versions of the same file!

I am not certain what you meant by "on the web" so you will need to look at the web interface (as well as traditional thick client) functionality that is offered.

We use basecamp that is the perfect tool to comunicate with the client and manage the project i would not change that, but to manage versioning and files inside the office, i've been using version cue, we use all the adobe package and since it integrates to all the adobe software is really good. REMEMBER if you are going to give a try, setup a weekly or daily backup, because if something happens it is almost impossible to get the files back if you don't have a backup done.
