Unable to have subURLs in Joomla

I have a domain www.mysite.com. I would like to have the following domains

books.mysite.com

news.mysite.com

Is it possible to have the subURLs in one Joomla installation when the content in the subURLs differ?

A: 

I got an answer at Joomla channel in IRC yesterday that it is not possible to solve the problem in Joomla.
