I'm in my final year of Computer Science studies at an Australian university. Everywhere I look, somebody is asking if I "have any plans for when I graduate". Aside from wanting to work in a small programming shop, I have none. Should I be applying for jobs now even though I don't graduate until October?

I was planning to simply send out my resume after graduation. I am currently contracted with a small business doing very very occasional software development.

Sure why not, I got work in the last year of my degree. I was only working part time at the time though - your experience may be different. Also do not prioritise work over your studies.

You should already try and meet for interviews and/or internships it will vastly improve your PR and ultimetly land you on a job as soon as you finish your Degree

Yes.

I worked part time for the last year and a half, so that surely affects how I view it :P. 2 years if I count internships :)

It was a great learning experience, and I did some interesting stuff during the time.

Ususally people apply for graduate positions early in their final year. It probably is a good time to look around at whats on offer rather than waiting until your finished.
