What are some must-haves if I wanted to host my software's manual/docs online? Something that has an FAQ system, table of contents, that kind of thing. A free solution would be ideal, but I may be interested in a paid solution if it has the right features.

Note: This is for the end user of the software. I'm not looking for something to parse my source code.

A Wiki would probably serve all your needs admirably.

May I suggest DokuWiki?

I was thinking about a Wiki. Are there any other suggestions as far as which specific wiki?

Well, I've used MediaWiki, which is easy to install and use, but there are a LOT of different choices out there. What type of server do you have running?

I have a Linux VPS so I guess anything on the lamp stack will work for me.
ryeguy
Well, MediaWiki installs very easily onto LAMP.

I prefer to store the various pieces of information in a database and write a small script to generate HTML pages and a little app that generates PDF via a PDF library.

Often technical documentation can be structured in a unique way for the particular product and you can spend a lot of time getting it into existing documentation solutions.

With the info stored in a central location you can also easily put together a few interfaces for new information to be added.
